In no particular order:

– Edan has grown increasingly wary of Kalgunn – everyone he’s met that has encountered such items has warned him not to trust it. To make matters worse, he’s afraid if someone else holds on to the sword Kalgunn may be strong enough to take them over. What the Night Court have said about Kalgunn just reinforces his worry. He hates being manipulated is seriously considering destroying it or forcing Kalgunn out of the sword into the helmet and letting the Night Court have “fun” with him until he is more compliant. (Aunt Fel would approve)

– Seeing Imperial involvement in Curabel is worrying for Edan. Their return will not be good for the islands.

– The potential threat of Marchmain and the Dark King are equally worrying. As much as he admires Dwarven tech – seeing how ancients viewed “others” and used their wondrous technology to terrible ends makes him believe that their existence is may be just as bad if not worse than the return of Imperial forces.

– A haunted mansion hardly interests him.

– Edan doubts the Sword of Dagon should be used at all – it’s too dangerous. He wishes it didn’t work.

During the training week:

Edan will shop some fine clothes and commission a completely new stylish-ish red hat. Plus another red leather hat for travelling.

Kalgunn will be stowed in a handled steel box Edan has had specifically made for it (interior moulded to it’s shape) and hidden in a wall of our club house until I’m ready to retrieve him. Think of a steel briefcase (or coffin?) – for a sword. 😉

Complete studying the devilfish anatomy drawings and notes

Study the submersible plans – particularly the engine.

Transcribe the spell book spells to his own.

Speak with Runnelbrooke about the safest way to confront Kalgunn, without risking that he handle the sword (I explain to him my fear after seeing what happened with the helm) I believe we had already established something with using a dynamo. I now know for sure he doesn’t want to be destroyed.

See if Runnelbrook can teach him wizard lock or similar spell

See if he can get the undying control cubes the Grey Cloaks recovered from the bodies.

Experiment with manipulating a control cube without a pedestal – Kalgunm showed Edan how, but Edan is convince there must be a way to “read” them as well. Otherwise, how could Prix have done what she did?

Session 16 – September 11, 2016

Session 16 – September 11, 2016

After healing up and resting the night, we set off the next day.

We encounter a suit of Urdjan armor riding a spectral horse. We defeat them, but the touch of the horse weakens the constitution of Frike until the next day.

We continue on after defeating the rider and horse and come upon a depression that has waterfalls over a cliff. This is the necropolis. We observe the short time left before dark. We see giant skeletons on patrol. We notice a stairway from above.

We decide on a plan to rest overnight, and then proceed to the stairs.

We find the stairs and proceed down. We sneak past the closest giant skeleton. The giant skeletons are actually bundles of the bones of man sized creatures.

We check out a building that exits steam, and see cauldrons and a lab in the back. Our observations from the rim showed that bodies were delivered and then undead walk out.

Zhoni tries augury and what we seek is not there.

We move the the building where we saw light at night. We find a door and enter. We find two stags kept in a room converted to a stable. Xoni turns one and after slaying it, the other is killed.

We go up stairs and find several zombies guarding a room.

We slay the zombies after some are turned. We enter the room they guarded, and find an elf and a desicated lady elf. The elf says, “Ah, it’s been some time since we’ve had any adventurer’s here.”

Other Party Intentions for Training Week, Session 121

Other Party Intentions for Training Week, Session 121

Ronan has been training with Thorfus while Chuq and Canis will begin their leveling process the day after your arrival in Midmark. That means the party has (at least) seven days of downtime — until the 9th of Tanrilden — to occupy themselves. Feel free to list any activities either below or in separate posts and I will resolve them prior to our next game.

Chuq’s Training Week, Session 121

Chuq’s Training Week, Session 121

Rahm Benisaeko, my understanding is that Chuq will be making his way to the Ark Cathedral in the morning to consult with Adhemar, the Master of the Spring, about training and some other things. Let me know what else you want to discuss with him and any other activities during your training week in the comments here.

It is with great sadness that I announce that I’ve lost my battle against the Citadel Faucet of Leakiness. The kitchen is littered with the detritus of battle, metal shavings, tools, broken washers and cartridges litter the area. I may have lost the battle but the war is won… Moen has judged in may favour and a new Citadel will be constructed in place of the old one within 3 to 5 business days.

There was much rejoicing…
