Important Notice Regarding Session 103, 4/6/16
I done goofed! Fortunately, it only has implications for the party’s future choices, not the past events, and therefore it can be remedied by just pointing out what actually happened.
Rechecking my notes, I indicated that Owyn and Laurente would not be able to save the party if the portal closed because they did not have the platinum admin keys to enable the X disk. That means the X disk was in Engineering! Thorfus would have needed to use the old key from Midmark to reopen the passage back after the lockdown shut off the portal. That means Guarinus destroyed a regular key — which still would have been a problem since the platinum keys were inside area X and the X disk outside, but only if Thorfus failed to leave in time.
What this means going forward is that the party could choose to reopen the passage to Area X — and that the only portal disk in the party’s possession is the X disk from the dark elf. Fortunately, that doesn’t invalidate anything that has happened and the party still could choose to leave the ancients locked away (it’s just not a foregone conclusion).
Ugh, that means if we lose control of the X Key and all the platinum keys…..
I think we need to destroy one of the platinum keys to make it harder for people to get to area X.
We need the X disc key, since it’s our only key, to get out of here.
The baby has a limitless power supply, perhaps we can just leave….
Thorfus is losing his desire to keep snooping around Xen Khel…..
Oh – that’s interesting. I’ll get to writing Edan’s journal entry later, but it’s soul searching time indeed.
Destroy the X key once you’ve left would be my vote. As long as the Bioforge’s power is shut off, the only known way to get in is the Stone Key in Axel’s possession. (Outside of mining and power tunnels of course.)
With that and the destruction of one or more Platinum Keys, we should be fine, as Edan tossed the Cure Reliquary as well. I’d like to do something about the sphere, but we’ve no idea what would work safely, so it’s the best option.
Whilst I would like to save the child, I don’t have a character present, so yeah. I would also like to save Kottar, but that’s just the Axel in me. 😛
No! damn you all. The pill MUST be destroyed. If you pansy don’t want to see the job finished, open the portal and allow Pons and I back into special research. I’ll show you how a MAN takes care of his own.
Get your hands off me Thorfus – I’m not ranting! And you, you long eared academic, don’t look at me as if you’ve never seen me before. I can sense your feelings, remember?
And yes, I CAN come back from this. Of course it would be easier if I knew Axel was OK, but that’s a different discussion for later…
“long eared academic” I love that.
Edan is conflicted, but understands in the end destroying these facilities is likely the most prudent decision. They were created to develop weapons for use against the rebellion, after all – we are the remnants of that rebellion.
Ok Thorfus. You can ease up, I’m cooler now. Listen both of you. We can’t overload the Special Research without the password, but what if we can overload Pathogen without a password?
That means we can leave and finish this job. Here’s how:
1. We rest tonight.
2. Tomorrow we open a portal to the Special Research and offer the ancients a chance to surrender either by retreating back north to the prison and allowing us to seal them in or by binding their own limbs starting with gagging and binding Araqiel. If they take the second option, they’re held in Engineering portal room with Pons’ hand over the flash fry controls.
3. Using all admin PasKeys, we retrieve first the admin desk cube then the pill. (if we feel lucky, we can try to depower the desynch pit to retrieve Edan’s tossed reliquary. We’ll have to slay the gargoyles before attempting anything) BTW, if we toss the ancient rebels down the pit then depower the field, perhaps the researchers and rebels will be to busy with each other to interfere with us, right?
4. The reliquaries and pill are left in Pathogen.
5. We return to engineering and overload Pathogen from there. Good bye infected undying, good bye disease, good bye pill, good bye anti-virus research, hello sunshine and the rest of our lives!
If the ancient rebels are cooperative, they choose between Marchmain, Bioforge or fighting their way through ST to Luppa.
FYI I didn’t throw the cube into the pit I dropped on the platform
That’s right, it can’t leave special research. My bad.
