The party, returning to Midmark for the sale of loot and training, arrives just in time to witness the return of Talon and young Em from the deepest jungle. Now, reunited with their resilient (and lucky) hireling, the group finishes outfitting themselves for a trek to the distant ruins of Xen’Khel. However, many unanswered questions linger over the Starchy Boyz: What repercussions will there be for Brice’s destruction of the Devil Fish ancestor? Is Talon going to get them all killed? How safe is Axel’s spring-loaded and poisonous gauntlet weapon? Will Honora Wystow get over her new crush on that dashing half-orc nurse who performed CPR on her? How will Starchy scratch his flees while wearing chain mail? Isn’t there supposed to be a ranger in this group? Does anybody believe the party will make it to Xen’Khel within the next six months?
Started this week with a viral inner ear infection and the world spins more than it should. Have to take a downer to suppress the spins which make me sleepy. If I don’t log in tonight, I’ll be horizontal. Sorry about this guys.
BTW, today’s my birthday. Have Chuq swim, climb and/or talk to any animals but PLEASE don’t loose a limb or get him killed.
Ray, didn’t see your comment yesterday. Reference was made to Chuq’s swimming, although he never managed a swim during the course of the party’s river journey — of course, he also didn’t die, so maybe that’s a wash (he was gored by a rampaging elephant, though, but only took 6hp of damage; he was about nine feet tall at the time of the injury thanks to Finklemur).
Gore – cool word. Did Chuq judo chop the elephant into submission? Since a monk’s limbs are bigger when enlarged, is there a damage bonus? Like a one handed sword vs two-handed sword.
Unfortunately, Chuq’s rolls were abysmal (along with most of the party). In the end, Talon the hireling and the new ranger’s dogs did most of the damage. The 1E rules on damage increase are vague, although it does imply that there would be such a bonus. I’m partial to using the 2E rules where damage is increased proportionately with size.
Am I the only one who thinks that Talon and a dog as the best team we can field as being a little perverse?
Perhaps there is more to his and Grimtooth’s story? (yes, yes, time to stop beating this horse…)
