I have decided to step out on a limb and post e-mails I receive regarding Hamiltons and other surnames I have an interest in. I will only post the unedited e-mails, and all information's accuracy is the responsibility of the submitter. I will reevaluate this undertaking if it becomes too burdensome.

QUERIES ON HAMILTONS:

Received Dec. 10, 1998
I am seeking information on my great grandmother, ANN LANETTE HAMILTON.

I have no information regarding her birth. I do know that she married ALEXANDER BEAN COOPER in Marion Co., Ky in ST.Augustine's Church on Oct.12,1880. Their son was Charles Walter Cooper. For a time the family had a home and land in Springfield, Ky. I am lead to believe that they may have been tobacco farming. Ann died in Louisville, Ky in 1946. If you have any information in regard to Ann, might you contact me please?

My Deepest Thanks,
Mary Beth Abordo

Subject: Madison Co. NY

Hi Larry, thanks for the note regarding my Madison Co. NY family, on the Hamilton mailing list. At the present time, I do not know enough about my Laura M. Hamilton to connect her to her family. I first find her on the 1850 Fed Census of Cortland Co. NY, living with her great aunt and great uncle, Content Brown, and Daniel Belden Paddock. It appears Laura may be an orphan, connected in some way to Content Brown, who was a widow on the 1830 Cortland Co. census. It gets confusing because I do not know Content's maiden name, then there is the possibility that Laura is related to either Content's family or her Brown husband's family. The 1855 State Census of Cortland Co. gives the info that Laura was born in Madison Co. NY.

Thanks,
Terri Walker

Subject: MORE INFO

I got this from the tour guide that my grandmother had. This were she would have been born and at this castle and as far as i understand her mother would have been Margaret (hosse) hamilton now the thing is i don"t know what one was born there. But one of the papers that i have state it was mary. I would also like to thank you for your time.

From Mom's Travle guide through Scotland: We pass the only "lake" in Scotland, the Lake of Menteith (right), with its three islands, on the largest of which are the Gothic ruins of the Priory of Inchmahane founded in 1238. STIRLING, the "Gateway to the North", fills the gap between the hills through which flows the river Forth, and marks the boundary between the Lowlands and the Highlands. The towering Castle rock was the obvious place to fortify, to dominate the river crossings. In historic interest and appeal, the town is only second to Edinburgh. Mary, Queen of Scots was crowned here at the age of 9 months in the High Church. The Castle was the home of many early Scottish kings. It was occupied by the English in 1296 and recaptured by Wallace after the battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297. The conspicous Wallace Monument (1869) 220 feet high, stands on the Abbey Craig (362 feet) beyond the fiver Forth.
